Sutherland

A couple of weeks ago (yeah, I kinda suck to update this blog right after my shoots), I started working for a model academy in Toronto. 

The good thing about this is that I can have girls who just graduated for free, in exchange for pictures for their own portfolio. It's pretty weird to make my selection on their website, it's like I'm ordering my wife from a Ukrainian website, but I have to say that it's pretty handy. You select the girls who could fit for what you have in mind, and you deal with their agent.

Anyway, for this first time, I really wanted two girls to create a retro atmosphere (what's up with me and retro theme I hear you say. Oh no, it's my inner voice) with my awesome make-up artist Jen.
So, long story short, I ended up with the beautiful Téa (love that name) and Jackie.

Il y a quelques semaines, (oui, je suis assez nulle pour mettre à jour le blog juste après mes shoots), j'ai commencé à bosser pour une une académie de modèles sur Toronto.

Ce qui est bien avec cette agence, c'est que je peux travailler avec des filles qui viennent tout juste d'avoir leurs diplômes, gratuitement, en échange de photos pour leurs books. C'est assez bizarre de choisir les filles sur leur site, j'ai un peu l'impression de commander ma femme en Ukraine, mais je dois admettre que ça s'avère être très pratique. Tu sélectionnes les filles qui pourraient convenir à ton projet et tu gères avec leur agent.

Bref, pour cette première fois, je voulais vraiment 2 jeunes filles pour créer une atmosphère rétro (qu'est ce que j'ai avec le rétro depuis quelques temps, je vous entends dire. Oh non, c'est juste une petite voix intérieure.) avec ma géniale maquilleuse Jen. Pour faire court, je me suis donc retrouvée avec Téa et Jackie.

It was a pretty busy day, as we wanted to work with 6 different outfits, in different places. We first
started at Suspect Video, a shop full of movies (it speaks for itself) with a really nice look. The owner was really nice to allow us to do a couple of pictures in it.

C'était une journée assez occupée, sachant qu'on avait prévu de shooter avec 6 tenues différentes, dans différent lieux. On a commencé au Suspect Video, un magasin de films en tout genre avec une apparence vraiment cool. Le proprio a été assez gentil pour nous laisser prendre quelques photos dedans.

Then, we went in the street to change the theme and do a kind of "film noir" atmosphere.

Ensuite, nous sommes allées dans la rue pour changer de thème et travailler plus sur un aspect "Film Noir".

In the middle of the session, the owner of a bar called The Central stopped us to offer us a drink after we're done. Their patio is incredible with a kind of galaxy painted of the wall. Way to end a photoshoot nicely, with a drink !

Au beau milieu du shoot, le propriétaire du bar d'à côté nous a arrêter pour nous offrir un verre après la séance. Leur terrasse était incroyable, avec une sorte de galaxie peinte sur le mur. Bonne façon de terminer un shoot d'une journée, avec un  verre !
